Hike to the mythical Gold Spring
40 € /person (minimum 2 people)
Hike to a mythical spring and see unique nature at the same time! The spring is located in the border zone in between Finland and Russia. This is an area where you can see pure and wild nature. The bears and wolves are using the same trail – in the wintertime we might see their paw prints!
There are a lot of mythical tales related to the Gold Spring. In the past the travellers were dropping coins in to the spring to get good luck. It was believed that if someone finds a frog from the spring and eats it, they will get all the coins ever dropped to the spring!
The writer of Kalevala – Elias Lönnrot also passed to drink from the spring on his way back to Finland from Viena Karelia.
This guided hike includes border zone permission, small snack and drink. We can customize the hike for you, the walk can be from 500 meters to 5 kilometers.

Experience the calming effect of an old smoke sauna!
Smoke saunas are known from their gentle heat. When having a break, you can enjoy some fresh spring water. After the sauna you will feel like new person.
The surrounding meadow and forests are the cherry on top. Perhaps you will meet tame Vasili-fox on your way back to the cottage.
Visit all the three Viena Karelian villages of Finland

Lets step into the world of Kalevala by visiting all three Viena Karelian villages of Finland.
The tour starts from Rimpi village of Kuhmo. First we enjoy coffee and snack in the house. We check the historical sights of the area before we contuine to north to Suomussalmi. There we will find the Kuivajärvi and Hietajärvi villages and the unique sights of them.
We will enjoy an outdoor lunch – if the weather is good we can prepare the lunch on the fire.
At the end of the tour we will drive back to the Rimpi village. If you want, you can go to sauna and stay overnight. Note that sauna and accomodation needs to be booked separately.

Forget the stress and hurry by staying in an old house and sleep comfortably in linen sheets. You reach the calming mood of the house the best by staying multiple nights.
You might have interesting ecounters with wild animals, they are suprisily tame around the house. Perhaps they bring you a message from the old times.
Accomodation in a shed

You can stay also in an old shed that is located a little further from the main house.
Sleep in a authentic White Sea Karelian shed and experience miracles! In the evening you can have a smoke sauna and afterwards great sleep in linen sheets.
You might hear some sounds from outside during the night. Most likely it’s some wild animal behind the door checking you. The wild animals here are like from an old fairytale – they are curious and like observe the visitor. People who have stayed here have met foxes and wild forest reindeers. It is an unforgettable experience to meet a wild animal during misty mornings.
Shed has two rooms and each fits 2 people. The price is for one room.
